#Blessed with perfect weather today and a nice cool breeze.
I think I might’ve put close to 5,000mi on this run. I was running Castrol Magnatec 5w-30 semi-syn. Now, I’ve gone full synthetic Castrol Edge.
With the A8L having been done a few weekends ago, I’m all oil changed out for a while.
Some bolts that hold the undertray decided to snap off on me too. Great.

I did an oil change on my G recently and had the same thing happen, and I just couldn't get it to fit right.

Minnesota? G? Are you acquainted with MNNI? Minnesota Nissan Infiniti? I know a handful of members, they’re a real good group.

Was not aware of such group. I’ll definitely look them up.
I’m in SE MN so its a lengthy process to attend anything in the Cities.

I gave up and removed enough bolts to lower one side of the tray.
I know there is an opening in the tray right below the oil pan, but even my small hands have a tough time working in such a space.

The underside on my G had many rusted bolts and I even took some garden scissors to the thing. It’s so annoying and during my last change I guess I didn’t tighten one of the bolts enough so at speed I hear the thing flapping and making noise. Guh!

I know people in the group that are from/in Mankato a lot. I don’t know if they have a place they usually meet. I’ve been to some events they were part of at DCTC but I’m not sure if that’s close for you, either. Definitely check them out, though.

I’ve had similar rusted underbody bolts snap on me before... the good thing about being underneath the car is that there’s no shame in using zip ties because nobody (even you) can’t see it! (plus they won’t rust again!)
Actually, my undertray somehow got split almost all the way through (prolly like that when I got it) and that was another zip tie repair - drilling holes on both pieces and “stitching” it together. I would never do it to to external bodywork, but hey, underbody - don’t see, don’t care XD

I still remember the time I ripped the entire undertray off my B5 A4. I figure it was because I had friends in the car and she bottomed out.

lol I feel like you should be impressed by challenging the load capacity of a pretty modern sedan...?

I knew exactly what happened too. Didnt even say a word. Got out, threw it in the trunk and drove off like it was all good.
I cracked the oil pan on a curb with that car too. Thanks to shitty strip malls and poor layout.

I'm thinking of buying one of the aluminum under trays just because it'd be sturdier than the OEM piece.
